The Rum

Papa’s Pilar Marquesas Special Blend, Rum Finished in Whiskey Barrels, named ‘Best In Class’ by the 2019 New York World Wine & Spirits Competition. Sourced from hand-selected rums spanning The Caribbean, U.S. & Central America, blended by Master Blender, Ron Call, and finished in once used #4 Char Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey Barrels.

THE TASTE

Nose: Complex notes of vanilla, coffee beans and honey with hints of toasted almond.

Taste: Rich cocoa notes with a slight hint of oak and vanilla.

Finish: Growing spice, with a smooth sweetness and everlasting length.

Serve: On the rocks, neat or the Marquesas Manhattan.

THE INSPIRATION

This 'Double Gold' release was inspired by the Marquesas Keys, a wild group of mangrove islands where Papa Hemingway learned the craft and lore of the local fisherman, dined sumptuously, and enjoyed rum & whiskey long into the night. The Marquesas Special Blend pays homage to Hemingway's adventures among these uninhabited keys, celebrating the finest rum & whiskey, great friends, and damn good story telling.

THE MAN

Ernest 'Papa' Hemingway was known for many things- he was an author, freethinker, adventurer, sportsman and bon vivant. He traversed the seas in his boat the Pilar, searching for adventures each more epic than the last.
